PRADAXA CASES have been consolidated in a Federal Multi-District Litigation centralized before the Chief Judge of the United States District Court, Southern District of Illinois, The Honorable David R. Herndon. The Mulit-District Litigation (“MDL”) is referred to as MDL No. 2385, In Re: PRADAXA (DABIGATRAN ETEXILATE) PRODUCTS LIABILITY LITIGATION.
On October 3, 2012, an Initial Conference was held and multiple orders were entered coordinating the progress of the litigation. As of that time, approximately 120 cases had been filed in the MDL, with other filings pending in a number of State courts including 4 in CA, 6 in CT and 1 in IL. Additional fillings are anticipated in the MDL where multiple Case Management Orders have been entered to facilitate the ‘discovery’ process. The discovery phase of litigation involves the exchange of information between parties, including documents, testimony and evidence sought by both sides.
